After forming in December 2000, the band locked themselves away and started writing some of the most brutal songs they had ever been a part of to date. Since then Byproduct has grown to become one of the most respected bands in the St. Louis metal scene. There are elements of metal, hardcore, punk, jazz, and ambient electro that can all be noted as vital influences to Byproduct's sound.

Byproduct has had the honor of playing with such great and diverse national acts such as old friends Calico System (eulogy), Soilent Green (relapse), Lacuna Coil (century media), Premonitions Of War (victory), Goatwhore (rotten), Flattbush (arrow), No One (immortal), Dog Fashion Disco (spitfire) and many more.

"Byproduct comes out guns blazing in what I will call an aggressively cosmic journey into neurological freedom. Fans of bands like Demon Hunter, Slipknot, Atreyu, and Sepultura will truly enjoy this band. Overall this recording is intense and very impressive for a band that isn’t on a record label yet. I stress the word yet... I highly recommend getting this c.d. and keeping your eye out for Byproduct in the future."

“47 minutes of technical genius, both lyrically and musically. Yes, that's what I'm saying. Prepare to get mindfucked. This band has their shit together, and they aren't afraid to put new twists in there. To hell with the norm. Yes, the music is brutal. It's heavy. It's hard...and yet, it's inventive, frightening, and deep."

"Byproduct are technically talented, and from what little I've heard, they seem to have a knack for changing up moods. Too much metal is repetitive. (Some) bands want to crank out heavy tunes nonstop. Byproduct seems to lean toward the lighter side sometimes, and it gives them depth."
-Perri Pryor (www.gtp-inc.com)

"They have the ability to rock your ass off, and lay down a nice groove, not always counting on speed to show off their technical skill. Don't let that make you think they can't though, because as soon as you let your guard down, they're coming at you full speed ahead."
-Randy Kish (www.stlmetal.com)

"Byproduct's music is refined and articulate, without sacrificing any edge."
-Jeb Rice (www.thesaucestl.com)

"Byproduct knows how to absolutely punish a crowd. I am amazed."
